Stoeung Treng (Stung Treng)
Provincial capital of Stoeung Treng province, situated at the Mekong
river.
Stung Treng province is known for its sweet tamarind and pasiyi
and pava fish
Places to visit:
- O'Pong Moan: a natural canal in O'Pong Moan village. The
water flows into a lake that is very popular for fishing and
swimming.
- Thala Barivat: A historical site, 4 kilometres north of the
provincial capital contains the 7th century Preah Ko
temple with the large statue of Preah Ko, the sacred bull. and many
other small ancient temples. Close to the Preah Ko statue is the 10
metres square yard where yearly the Kuoy hill-tribes engage yearly
in the Veay Khel, the traditional armor plate fighting.
- Koh Ksach: a beautiful sandy beach along the Sekong river
where visitors can swim or relax.
- Wat Hang Kho Ba: a historical site whose main attraction is
a 300-years old pagoda. The place is also popular for its sweet
tamarind.
