The main tourist attraction in Cambodia is certainly the Angkor temple complex but there are numerous other worthwhile temple sites.

 

A minimum period of 3 days for a visit to the Angkor site is essential to get a rough idea of the ensemble. To avoid temple over-saturation, a longer period is most advisable. Alternate temple visits with strolls through Siem Reap town and with shopping. The best way to taste the charm of Angkor without strain would be by limiting yourself to two or three temples a day and spend at least a week on the discovery of this world heritage site.

 

 

Certainly worth a visit in Preah Vihear province:

From the Cambodian side, access is (not yet) possible in rainy season. The road is in a terrible condition and full of potholes. The site can however be visited from Thailand as it is situated close to the border. No visa is necessary to cross the frontier.
