| Built by Jayavarman V (968-1001), it was
one of the first to be built in sandstone. It was never finished, and this
gives it a dull look. The stones are barely carved. When under Suryavarman
I (1002-1050) a thunderbolt hit the temple, the constructors saw this
as a bad omen an left the temple unfinished and hardly decorated. |
Had it been finished, it would undoubtedly have been one of the finest
temples of Angkor. |
