| A king of Angkor once fell in love with the daughter of a
fisherman, the beautiful Yeah Pean. When the king left her
after she got pregnant, he gave
Yeah Pean a ring. The child she was to bear him should be brought to Angkor
with the ring as identification, the king ordered. |
Dutifully, Yeah Pean sent her son
Prohm, to Angkor where he received a warm welcome and was given the
best education. Later Prohm was sent back to the province as to become
governor. He cared well for the province. He built a temple like the
one he had seen in Angkor
and named after it 'Ta Prohm'. |
