Hamburger joints
There
are several places that sell hamburgers but not all are the same.
- If you're looking for McDonald's,
the closest thing you'll find is Lucky Burger. The last couple of
years, Lucky Market has been expanding and so has Lucky Burger. There are
outlets at every Lucky Market and there's an extra one at the corner of
Monivong Blvd and Charles de Gaule Blvd.
- Last time I tried the Big A burger
restaurant on Monivong next to St 178, they served a burger with
some type of "mixed meat", the luncheon sausage type and so did BB-Burger
on Sihanouk just west of Lucky market.
- Some Cambodian outlets now sell hamburgers too. The meat of those
burgers tends to be over-cooked/over-fried and too dry to figure out
the type of meat that was used. On your own risk. But if the price is
an issue and you are accustomed to Cambodian meats, have a try.
Sometimes, the quality of the food discussed may change.
I remember eating a burger from Lucky Burger in the nineties, a couple of
months after they opened the hamburger restaurant. The meat was from the
same luncheon quality as now still is sold at Big A. As a result, I
avoided the place for years to come. Then one day, a friend took me there
and I discovered that they had changed to the real ground beef and that
the quality was satisfactory. You can leave your comments here
A good and nourishing quality hamburger can be devoured at one of the
following restaurants, though at slightly higher prices than the above:

- It's
a full meal, one of their burgers, with a big bun, plenty of meat
and veggies. European customers will enjoy a choice between tomato
ketchup or mayonnaise (or both) to complement the French fries
(optional). H 4 St 282 Tel 023-214 498 /
