Yoy Vibol passed his childhood in Koh Taseo
commune, Prey Sob district, in Kratie province where he followed primary
school. He thereafter went to Kratie town for his secondary studies in Koh
Samak High School.
In his free time, he acted as a tourist guide for the few tourists that made it to Kratie. This gave him confidence in English, and thus he met Marc Vanhemelryck, the general manager of Taxi Vantha, who was then running a weapons collection project in Snuol district for EU ASAC. Mr. Marc offered him a job after he finished his secondary education because of his advanced skills in English, his eagerness to learn and his keen interest in education. In 2002, he came to Phnom Penh to obtain higher education. He started to work for Taxi Vantha to support his studies at the Asean University. He now has an Associate degree in English and continues his studies for a Bachelor degree. In 2002, Taxi Vantha also supported his driving lessons to provide Vibol a license and gave him ample opportunity to practise. Occasionally, Vibol will now perform as driver. |
