Hi!

I am Marc. Besides running this board, I lecture at CUP university and I manage Taxi Vantha. I live and work in Cambodia since 1995. I am a Buddhist and was so before I came to Cambodia. This may actually be one of the real reasons why I stayed in Cambodia all this time.

I love the country but I am a realist towards the Khmer people. But that realism is based on almost "being one of them". I say almost, because I'll never be able to do that. My Buddhist background does not help me that much. Buddhism is quite simple, it does not have many "values" or sacred causes. Buddhism is not realy a religion. Buddhism respects any religion but and is always a "loyal opposition" to any religion.

I have rather strong opinions on the theatre that was played in Cambodia since the beginning of the Vietnam war and I believe the Americans should finally pay up for the "collateral dammage" their war caused, not by some aid, always far too little and far too late. Cambodia was a prosperous country before the US involved it in their Vietnam War.

I have strong opinions about the War in Iraq as well. Will "they" never learn? Did "they" learn nothing from the Vietnam War? "They" must have known this was never going to work. The presidence of Bush is drawing to an end, and so is probably this war. I am still waiting the outcome that justifies this war. An outcome that teaches me that Bush and Blair were not complete idiots.

I am married; my wife is a Cambodian nurse in the Centre of Hope hospital. She had a first son during the Pol Pot period. He is now 28 years old and is partner in the Taxi business.

I am the administrator of this board and the moderator of this forum.

I hope regular visitors may register and introduce themselves in this topic. Welcome.

Marc

The problem with being punctual is that there is noone there to appreciate it.
