The showroom of the Gold Tower 42 was opened Thursday in the presence of Senior Minister Im Chhun Lim, minister of Land Management, Urbanization and Construction. Senior Minister Nhem Vanda, first vice president of Disaster Management National Committee, Phnom Penh Governor Kep Chuktema, and South Korean Ambassador Shin Hyun Suk were also present at the ceremony. The construction of the 42-floor tower, which is expected to be completed in three years, will begin in June at a cost of about 2.4 billion U.S. dollars, said Teng Rithy, sale manager of the South Korean-based Yon Woo Cambodia Co., Ltd. in charge of the investment. | The price of the construction will range, he added, from more than 400,000 U.S. dollars to 1.5 million U.S. dollars. According to Senior Minister Im Chhun Lim, in the first nine months of 2007, there were 1,514 construction projects worth about 1.6 billion U.S. dollars, showing the significant role of the construction sector in the economic development after the sectors of tourism and garment. The Gold Tower 42 will be located in the corner of Monivong and Sihanouk, in front of Preah Yukunthor High School. --AKP |
